Who would you fly with?

When you book a tandem flight in Zell am See, you're not simply buying an adventure. You're trusting a person.

A pilot who makes decisions about weather, launch site, flight route and safety. Someone you entrust with yourself, your partner — or even your child.

That's why the most important question isn't: "Which flight should I book?" It's: "Who am I actually flying with?"

At the mountain, visitors are regularly approached by people offering tandem flights. But for guests, it's often impossible to tell who actually has the necessary experience, training and qualifications.

That's exactly why I'd like to introduce myself.

Your pilot: Alois Mitteregger

My name is Alois Mitteregger. I have been flying paragliders for over 30 years and have worked professionally as a tandem pilot and flight instructor for more than 25 years.

I am also a powered aircraft and glider pilot. This broad flying experience helps me not just to observe weather developments, thermals and air currents — but to truly read them.

Flying is not simply a job for me. It has been a central part of my life for decades.

One of the most experienced tandem pilots in Zell am See

The Schmittenhöhe is one of the most beautiful flying mountains in Austria — and at the same time a demanding flying area that requires experience, weather knowledge and sound judgement.

I have been flying as a tandem pilot on the Schmittenhöhe for over 25 years, making me the tandem pilot with the longest active flying experience on this mountain.

Thousands of guests from all over the world have experienced their tandem flight in Zell am See with me. Many come through personal recommendations, many fly with us again, and some return years later bringing their family or friends.

For me, that is the greatest confirmation of my work.

Experience means safety

Modern equipment matters. But the most important piece of safety equipment sits in the cockpit.

Experience doesn't show itself when something unexpected happens. Experience shows itself in recognising risks early and preventing difficult situations from arising in the first place.

That's why safety and an honest assessment of conditions always come first. This includes careful flight preparation, regularly inspected equipment, continuous weather monitoring and calm, clear guidance for my guests — from the first conversation to landing.

Sometimes professionalism also means postponing or cancelling a flight when conditions are not right. Safety always comes first.

That is the standard I hold myself to

Whether children, seniors or first-time flyers — every guest deserves the same attention, the same care and the same sense of responsibility.

I take children up in the air. I carry responsibility for people who place their complete trust in me. That is the responsibility I strive to honour on every single flight.

The same applies to the entire team

The expectations I set for myself apply to every pilot at Paragliding Zell am See.

Every pilot is carefully selected by me and must meet the same high standards of safety, professionalism and responsible conduct.

When you fly with us, you always fly with someone I personally trust.

My promise

When you fly with us, you're not simply getting a tandem flight over Zell am See.

You fly with people who have made their passion their profession, who have known the Schmittenhöhe for decades and who approach every decision with the same sense of responsibility they would want for their own family.

I look forward to showing you the fascinating world of paragliding over Zell am See.
